Alan Ball

There is a better way, an optimal way, and the time is now. It’s called Sustainable Intelligence™.

Alan Ball is Sustainable Intelligence Partner and retired Qualcomm Sr. Director for Business Services with business management responsibility for sustainability, facilities, environmental health and safety, food services and energy.

Alan Ball has extensive experience cutting costs while adding value through the establishment of sustainability programs, inventorying greenhouse gas emissions and reducing the enterprise wide carbon footprint. Alan implemented procurement and energy management plans to increase efficiency and reduce demand and the integration of these plans in Qualcomm’s corporate policy of climate change reduction. He developed and implemented a green supplier procurement policy as well as spearheaded employee engagement of sustainability.

As Qualcomm’s negotiator of large, complex facilities and energy contracts and as an early adopter of energy cost management strategies his commodity contracts for electricity, natural gas, and reclaimed water, applications of central plant combined heat and power, and installations of large scale photovoltaic, captured substantial annual savings, while adding generation redundancy, increasing reliability, and reducing harmful emissions.

Currently Alan is the Chairman of the Executive Steering Committee of Sustainability Alliance of Southern California. He is also the Executive Board Member and Secretary/Treasurer of the California Center for Sustainable Energy. He also is part of the Advisory board at EcoHub and Clean Venture groups.
